Nightclub flyer featuring logos, text, and a scan of a photograph of a man with a frenzied facial expression, and a sticker that reads 'Sans debit'.

A poster designed for E1’s last show before it closed due to the pandemic. The photograph used is something I found when digging through my step dad’s photo collection from when he lived in France in the 90s. The subject’s facial expression fitted the mood for the night perfectly, so I was desperate to use it.

The photo lab must have deemed it too blurry to be of any use, and thus did not charge a fee for it; ‘sans debit’. I decided to keep the sticker in – embracing its erratic placement in the composition – to sort-of prove to them that this photo did have a use after all: over 20 years later for an industrial techno rave flyer.
